AlexMos Download Files

Please download the file (compressed zip format) below which contains all the required files for the GUI. Please place them all into one single folder on your computer - a suggested folder name could be "Desire RC Brushless GUI"

You may see a message saying that the file is not a commonly downloaded format, this is because it is a "zip" file, you can safely ignore this and go ahead with the download.

Once you have downloaded all the files you will need to decompress the files and then you can open the file called SimpleBGC_GUI (application 385kb) which will open the main Graphical Interface - you can then open the appropriate COM port to start talking to your Alex Mos board via Bluetooth!

You will be able to update your V3 board using the GUI, however, if this is a problem on the older V1 boards you can always use the AVRDude package which is also included in the files below.

Simple BGC 2.43 Manual (32 bit version) Latest Version issued 10th Dec 14:

We are in the process of re-writing the manual, however, the only difference between the Desire manual and the standard Basecam manual is the board layout and the direct connection via Bluetooth. So until our manual is updated, please see the first few pages of the 2.42 manual (below) and then go to the Basecam link here: Basecam Downloads Page

Basecam have also produced a Russian video with English subtitles that explain the new features including the new GUI dialogue for orientation calibration of the Sensors (IMU's) to make the process much easier! Click here: Video

Latest GUI and Firmware:

Warning: Do not attempt to install earlier versions of firmware than 2.4 b8 as this will stop the board from functioning and it is not possible to re-flash new firmware to the board without it being returned to us for repair which will incur a charge!

Warning: Do not increase the baud rate of the board to anything more than 115200 as this will deactivate the bluetooth connection (it cannot cope with anything higher than a baud rate of 115200). If you do select the higher baud rate and "write" it to the board you will no longer be able to communicate via the bluetooth connection and the board will have to be re-set to its default configuration by pressing the menu button 10 times - beware this will erase all of your PID settings so make sure you make regular backups! If this fails then the board will have to come back to us for a factory re-set. The latest GUI should now have a warning about this. In addition from firmware revision 2.50b5 there will be an option to click the menu button 12 times will will revert to a baud rate of 115200 without a full re-set.

For 8 bit boards (older v1/v2 version) - click here

NOTES:

a) Make sure you keep a copy of your preferred profile for your current PID's etc. Just save the profile in your current GUI and then when you open the new GUI, just load your profile back into it.

b) Disconnect your motors before powering the board, this will ensure that you can re-calibrate the gyro if required and you can load your preferred profile (see below)

c) Ensure you are happy with the PID, motor power and pole settings before you re-connect the motors.

d) To see what updates are included in the latest firmware - click here

e) If you can't use the GUI to update the firmware then just use Avrdude - see "Other Files" below

Other Files:

Avrdude:

AvrdudeR.zip 595.63 KB 11/07/2013 23:39:59 Download Details

If you get an error message "libusb0.dll was not found"when using Avrdude then download this file

Win7 drivers.zip 270.14 KB 01/09/2013 17:33:56 Download Details

NOTE:

This is a zipped file which you need to un-zip, you will see there are two "installer" files - if you have a windows 64bit PC then select the x64 installer otherwise run x86 installer. Once complete, open up Avrdude again and the error should now be resolved.
